“It’s not just about providing food, it’s about dignity,” said Fatima, a volunteer at the kitchen. “We see people coming here with nothing, no food, no money. They’re desperate. We try to provide them with more than just a meal, we try to give them hope.”
The kitchen serves around 200 people per day, a small fraction of the estimated 1.9 million people in Gaza who are in dire need of aid. The majority of these people are refugees or internally displaced persons who have been forced from their homes due to conflict and violence.
The situation in Gaza is complex and multifaceted, with years of conflict and blockades having devastating effects on the economy and infrastructure. The lack of access to basic necessities such as food, water, and electricity has led to widespread poverty and hunger.

But despite the challenges, the volunteers remain optimistic. “We know that what we’re doing is small, but every little bit counts,” said Fatima. “We’re doing what we can to make a difference, one meal at a time.”
