Indonesian Citizens Evacuated from Lebanon Arrive Back in RI, Now Total 40 People

KACAMATA NETIZEN – A total of 40 Indonesian citizens (WNI) evacuated from Lebanon have arrived back in the country. This evacuation was carried out in response to the deteriorating situation in Lebanon, where political and security tensions have escalated. The WNI includes migrant workers and their families, who have faced difficulties due to the ongoing economic crisis.

The evacuation involved cooperation between the Indonesian government and relevant parties in Lebanon. Previously, several WNI had already been repatriated in an earlier phase, bringing the total to 40. The government ensured that all security and health procedures were followed during the repatriation process, with health checks and quarantine for those who needed it.

Upon their arrival in Indonesia, the WNI were welcomed by teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). One of them, Nita (pseudonym), expressed her gratitude for being able to return home. She stated, “I am very thankful to be back. The situation in Lebanon was very difficult, and we feel safe here.”

The Indonesian government is committed to protecting its citizens abroad, especially in high-risk areas. They advise WNI residing in Lebanon to stay updated on the latest information and avoid conflict-prone areas. With the arrival of these 40 WNI, it is hoped that they can start a new life better than the hardships they faced in Lebanon.
